Good morning. Are you good because I am very much good and happy today. I actually feel much better than the last time, when I felt shitty about myself and I didn’t know how to feel. I had mixed emotions but scared at the same time. Well how do you feel today?? Did you journal your thoughts because I do when I feel lonely and scared, even when I am happy I do journal my feelings hey and which helps me a lot but sometimes I tell someone (my best friend) about my emotions at times because I am too overwhelmed when i get write them in my journal, sometimes I just pray to God and tell Him my emotions and cry it all out, then I read my Bible and journal it out at times using the S. O. A.P Method.
WHAT IS THE S. O. A. P METHOD?
Well today I would like to tell you about a method called S.O.A.P. Some people do know it, some don’t. Well the S. O. A. P. method is a method that you use when doing a Bible study individually or in a group. You don’t have to be skilled or have studied Theology to master the method, its open for everyone. It can be used in church or individually or at home when praying or doing a Bible study as a family or friends.
HOW DO YOU APPLY THE S. O. A. P METHOD?
This is how you are going to apply the S. O. A. P. method in following:
S – Scripture
Lets says you are reading a certain chapter in the Bible and you liked a certain scripture in the chapter that you have read then under scripture you are going to write that scripture. For example I love John 14 verse 14 and I am going to physically write it down in my notebook (you can you use your laptop or your iPad or tablet if you want to). You will be also amazed at what God will reveal to you when you slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading. So lets go to Observation.
O – Observation
What do you see in the verses you’re reading? Who is the audience? Is there repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson of the theme or on the scripture that you chose?
A – Application
When God’s word becomes personal. What is God saying to you today? How can you apply what you just read into your life? Are there any changes that you need to make?
P – Prayers
Pray God’s word back to Him. If He has revealed something to you during this time in His word, pray about. Confess if He has revealed some sin/sins that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
Write everything I mentioned in your notebook/laptop/iPad/tablet wherever you want to write your S. O. A. P. Method and you mostly feel comfortable writing in. Don’t forget to always go back and re-read what you have written so that you don’t backslide or forget what you have studied in your Bible.
Just remember that God loves you and He will always do. He doesn’t care what you did in the past, He forgives all sins, only if you repent and ask for forgiveness that comes genuinely from your heart.
